I can definitely see the micro stutter in OBS recordings, when I capture at 60fps but the game runs at anything other than 60 or 120fps. That's why I use 60Hz, although the monitor supports 70Hz.įor my games, I use a framelimit via RTSS at 58fps to stay under the max refresh-rate for best freesync usage. When I'm just browsing the web or watching videos, I can definitely see the micro stutter from time to time, when using 70Hz and watching 30fps or 60fps content on youtube or twitch (because freesync is not working in a web browser or VLC player). My freesync monitor only supports 60Hz and 70Hz but I can definitely relate and give you my 2 cents on this topic.Īs you said, running into Vsync introduces a noticable sluggish feeling (input lag) in many games so I also cap my fps with RTSS slightly under the refreshrate of my monitor. However, 60 fps recordings on the 144hz in general feels choppy, so I'm doubting myself with the differences between the test runs. I did try both options, and there's no perceivable difference for me in the short time I tried testing. And if that's the case, would locking in intervals of 60 be the ideal solution (using something like 240fps for source engine games)? That's why I was enquiring whether staying at 144hz and just locking to 120fps fixes the issue. Using VSync is not an option as the input delay is quite terrible for competitive games that I play. The changing to 120hz and locking to 120fps with rivatuner fixed the issue, however I now get screen tearing. ![]() That's when I also stumbled upon a couple of threads where they suggested changing to 120hz from 144hz (can always take every second frame instead of having to alternate between frames 2 and 3). When researching the issue, I found out that it was both due to the framerate fluctuations and the GPU being pushed to the max mixed with NVENC. For context, I was running at an uncapped framerate before which produced the choppiness.
